Cody Deaner announces Yo Mobile as charity of choice for the Giv'er for Charity Campaign in November11/7/2018
Cody Deaner has announced the charity he will be raising money for in the month of Novemeber through the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign. He wrote the following on his Facebook page:
"I’ve decided on the charity of choice for the “Giv’er for Charity” campaign for November... Throughout November, 100% proceeds from my #RedneckRenegade cartoon caricatures will be going to an amazing charity - The Yo Mobile. #YoMobile was founded by Mario Dussault and is run in Timmins, Ontario. Timmins has one of the highest percentages of homelessness in the province. Mario saw a need and decided to do something about it. He bought a bus and sets it up 2 times a week to distribute warm clothes and food to the homeless during the cold winter months. On Nov 17th, Rock Solid Wrestling will be in Timmins for an event where 100% of the proceeds will be going straight to Yo Mobile - which relies 100% on donations to operate. I’m proud to partner with Rock Solid to help this cause. But I won’t ONLY be collecting money at this event. I’ll be collecting money at EVERY event I’m wrestling at or guest speaking at in November. Please partner with me in this cause and help the homeless in the fine city of Timmins. Let’s not just giv’er ... let’s GIV’ER for CHARITY! CodyDeaner.com/charity" Throughtout the month of October, Cody Deaner's "Giv'er for Charity" campaign was raising money to put bullied kids in self-defence classes.
Cody Deaner had the following to say about the October campaign on his Facebook page: "October has come & gone and I’m happy to say that the “Giv’er for Charity” campaign has been able to raise the funds for putting bullied kids in self-defence class to $330! The folks at Fear The Fighter have made it a priority to help #StopBullying & I’m happy to join them in their cause to get kids with low self-esteem and a low sense of self-worth involved in BJJ classes to raise their confidence and help them realize they DO MATTER and bullies to not have to have power over them. I’m PERSONALLY picking the kids to put into self-defence programs & have heard stories from kids & parents across Canada & have reached out to some to help. But I know there are more out there. If you or someone you know would benefit from classes, please drop me a PM & we’ll see if we can help. Thanks to everyone who has supported my “Giv’er for Charity” efforts & the #StopBullying campaign 👊 If you’d like to contribute to the cause & get some#FearTheFighter #StopBullying swag, visit fearthefighter.com/discount/justgiver & enter promo code: justgiver at checkout and $10 from your order will go toward the campaign. *NOTE* ZERO dollars go to me. This is not a sponsorship deal where I’m getting kickback. Fear The Fighter has set up the proceeds & is allowing me to pick the kids. 👊" Click the button below to learn more about the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign and how you can get involved. Cody Deaner and his Cousin Jake - "The Deaners" make their Impact Wrestling debut on the October 13th edition of Xplosion.
You can watch the match for FREE on GlobalWrestlingNetwork.com or by downloading the GWN app. On Saturday, October 6th, Border City Wrestling celebrated their 25th Anniversary event with an Impact Wrestling "One Night Only" taping at St. Clair College in Windsor, ON. In the main event, Cody Deaner faced 3 Impact Wrestling Stars: Kongo Kong (champion), Johnny Impact, & Matt Sydal for the BCW Can-Am Championship. At the end of the night, Cody Deaner knelt in the ring as a 2x BCW Champion after pinning Kongo Kong with a roll-up out of nowhere.
Cody had the following to say about the win on his Facebook page & Instagram: “The title doesn’t make the man. The man makes the title.” For 25 years Border City Wrestling has been the measuring stick in Canadian professional wrestling. As of this past Saturday’s Global Wrestling Network #OneNightOnly taping, I find myself once again as the BCW Champion. I have been praising Canadian (and specifically Ontario) independent wrestling for literally my entire career. I have travelled far and wide and some of the best wrestling talent in the world... yes the WORLD... is right here in my backyard in Ontario, Canada. British wrestling is getting a buzz. For years the Northeast US has had a buzz... CANADIAN wrestling deserves a buzz. Because we have the best talent on the planet. With Border City Wrestling’s affiliation with Impact Wrestling, we are finally getting a platform to show the WORLD how amazing the talent in our country really is. Whether I’m viewed this way by others or not... as BCW Champion, I feel like I represent the other wrestling talent in this country because BCW has proven with its deep 25 year history that it is THE company in this province & in this country. A championship is only as meaningful as the person holding it. And this means the WORLD to me. Time to get to work and show the WORLD how good #CanadianIndependentWrestling truly is. Time to truly GIV’ER! Sincerely, Cody Deaner Cody Deaner wrote the following on his Facebook page:
"Together we can #StopBullying... For many months I’ve partnered with Fear The Fighter and sold their merchandise with portions of the proceeds going toward putting bullied kids in self-defence classes. I’ve decided to take it up a notch! October is #NationalBullyingPreventionMonth ... so throughout the month of October, I’ve decided that “Giv’er for Charity” will also be raising funds for this cause and 100% OF THE PROCEEDS I raise through my campaign will go toward putting bullied kids in classes. I’ve been told numerous heart-breaking stories from parents about what their kids go through on a daily basis. With this money, I will be finding quality BJJ & MMA gyms in those kids’ areas & putting them into programs for children. I will personally be picking kids who I have met and heard stories about. This one hits close to home. To learn more about “Giv’er for Charity” & how you can help visit CodyDeaner.com/charity Let’s not just giv’er guys... let’s GIV’ER FOR CHARITY! Cody Deaner's "Giv'er for Charity" recently raised $1000 for the Every Kid Counts program at the Lansdowne Children's Centre. Cody raised the money in honour of a fan he has developed a unique bond with - Regan Anderson.
As part of the fundraiser, Cody surprised Regan by inviting her in the ring for a special presentation. Cody had the following to say about the campaign when posting this video on his social media: "THIS is what "Giv'er for Charity" is all about... I started the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign at the beginning of this year. It started as a small, inspiring idea and has quickly morphed into something that is currently fueling my drive and passion for professional wrestling, and despite how cheesy this may sound ... has reignited my faith in the human race. I started "Giv'er for Charity" because I wanted to give back to my fans. In a real and tangible way. And I wanted to use what small influence I have in the wrestling world for good in the "real" world. When I started "Giv'er for Charity," I had the pleasure to talk with Mick Foley (who I've looked up to for YEARS as both a wrestler and someone who does absolutely amazing and inspiring work with various charities) about what I wanted to do with my charity work and he gave me some fantastic advice: "keep the focus of your contributions local." ThanksMick, I’ve taken your advice and you were absolutely right. I've had the pleasure of not only giving back to my fans and bringing my fans into the ring to honour them (like you see here with my buddy Regan)... I've gotten to team up with them and raise money alongside them and bring awareness to causes that are near and dear to their hearts and others in the local communities I visit on a regular basis as a travelling independent professional wrestler. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign at some point this year. Your support has not gone unnoticed to me and the numerous organizations like the Lansdowne Children's Centre, Rumball Camp of The Deaf, The Bob Rumball Foundation for the Deaf, Special Olympics St. Thomas, Pedalling Away Age at Exeter Villa & other charities we've been able to help so far this year. I hope this video makes your day. It sure makes mine. The feature includes a Facebook post by Cody detailing his special bond with Rumball Deaf Camp camper Christopher Monohan. "I'm honored to be on the cover of their most recent newsletter," Cody said. "Christopher is a special kid. I'm happy to see people learning about his story. And I'm happy to help the people at the Rumball Deaf Camp in anyway I can. Whether that's through financial support through the Giv'er for Charity campaign, or helping spread awareness about their amazing organization. I'm just happy to contribute in anyway I can." For the fifth straight year, with Cody Deaner in the main event, pro wrestling sells out at the Parkhill Fall Fair.
"I look forward to this show almost more than any other event I do all year," Cody Deaner said. "It's in my hometown, which is awesome. But, even more than that, the fans here are the loudest and rowdiest fans I perform in front of all year long. I literally get swarmed and embraced by the kids on my way to the ring. It reminds me of when fans swarmed wrestlers back in the 70's and 80's. You just don't see that much anymore - pure, true emotion from the crowd. It happens every year in Parkhill. It's truly special." Wrestling has become the main attraction at the Parkhill Fall Fair since wrestling started coming to the fair 5 years ago. Cody Deaner has main evented every event in Parkhill. Every year it sells out and it keeps getting bigger and better. "We'll see what next year brings," Cody said. "I'm already looking forward to it." Cody Deaner was surprised at a recent wrestling event in Rodney, Ontario when he looked out in the audience and saw a sign that said: "I travelled 3,870 miles to see Deaner."
Cody met with the fans who came from Holland after his match and took pictures with their entire family. To see more pictures of Cody with his fans, follow Cody on his Instagram page HERE. At recent wrestling event in Port Hope, Ontario, Cody Deaner was pleasantly surprised by a a woman he'd never met, but was deeply connected to Cody's fundraiser for Camp BUCKO through his "Giv'er for Charity" campaign. Cody told the following story on his Facebook fan page: "Sometimes the world tells you you’re doing something right... In August I announced I’d be raising money for Camp BUCKO throughout August & September with my “Giv’er for Charity” campaign. When I made the announcement, I was put in contact with Magdalena De Vries... a woman who is a burn survivor & went to Camp Bucko in her youth. I connected with Maggie online and she told me about how amazing and life-changing Camp Bucko was for her. It helped solidify in my mind that I knew I had made the right choice of charity. Last weekend, I wrestled in a crazy match at the Port Hope Fair where I wrestled all over the carnival (you can see clips of this madness here: https://youtu.be/rYrNMUycuWU) After my match, a woman approached me and said, “Hi, I’m Maggie.” It took me a minute to realize who she was. “Whoa... you’re MAGGIE!” I said, “What are you doing here?!” “I work right there,” she said, pointing over to one of the food booths. Wow. What are the odds? That day I wrestled right beside her booth, then set up a table raising money for Camp Bucko right beside her booth! THEN... she went and grabbed a shirt to give me as a gift... one of her camp shirts that she wore as a youth attending camp. Unreal. Sometimes I question if my charity work is really making all that much of a difference. I don’t raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and I’m not a big time celebrity. But I took this as a sign from the Big Man Upstairs that I’m on the right track... and what I’m doing matters. Sometimes the world is trying to tell you something. I’ve learned it’s best to listen. Thank you so much for the gift Maggie. It means a lot. And thanks to everyone who has given money toward the “Giv’er for Charity” campaign the last few months. I’ll be raising $ for Camp BUCKO at all my shows right up until the end of September. Keep givin’er guys. 🤘 Sincerely, Cody Deaner" Click HERE to learn more about the GIV'ER FOR CHARITY campaign. |
