At a recent Rock Solid Wrestling event in Angus, Ontario, Cody Deaner surprised a fan with a special gift for his birthday.
Cody wrote the following about the surprise on his Facebook page: Pro wrestling sometimes gets a bad rap. It shouldn't... This is Spencer. This past Saturday in Angus, ON at the Rock Solid Wrestling show, I got to surprise Spencer with a surprise birthday present. I came out for an in-ring promo to hype my main event match vs. Tyler Tirva. In the middle of my promo, I surprised Spencer by calling him out and letting the #SoldOut #StandingRoomOnly crowd know that it was Spencer's birthday. The look on his face was priceless. We all started to sing Happy Birthday to him, but the evil & arrogant Tyler Tirva came out to spoil our plans and cut off the birthday celebration. Tirva started to talk some smack to the 8 year old Spencer and didn't take too kindly to the fact that the fans were cheering for Spencer louder than they were for him. I wondered if Tirva's words would upset Spencer ... but I was quickly mistaken. I walked over to Spencer during Tirva's tirade and Spencer made his way to the guardrail. He then looked me dead in the eyes, and with 100% sincerity asked, "Can you help me over this guardrail so I can go kick his butt?" I'd be lying if I didn't say in was very tempted to let him have at it! Instead, I was able to chase Tirva off and get Spencer in the ring with me so we could finish singing happy birthday to him. Then, Spencer and I did some pretty wicked-awesome bicep poses while the crowd went nuts. At intermission, Spencer's dad came over to me and looked me right in the eye to warmly thank me for doing that for his son. He said it would be a lifelong memory for him. I'm sure he's right, and I'm glad it will be. Pro wrestling gets a bad rap from some folks. It shouldn't. If those people actually took the time to see how wrestling can be a positive influence on today's youth and witness moments like this, perhaps they'd change their tune and see wrestling for what it is - a beautiful business that is about creating positive memories for people and allowing them to forget their worries and simply smile for a few hours. For the fourth year in a row, Classic Championship Wrestling has sold out the Parkhill Fall Fair wrestling event that opens the annual Parkhill Fall Fair. For the fourth year in a row, the hometown hero, Cody Deaner, headlined the event. "I look forward to this event every year," Cody said. "Hearing 400 screaming kids is a sound that you never get sick of. It pops your ear drums ... but the adrenaline spike it gives you is like nothing else in the world." This year, Cody Deaner lost his Classic Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Title against Chris Masters in the "Masterlock Challenge" earlier in the night, after the former WWE star cheated his way to attain the belt. Cody triumphantly returned later in the evening to win his belt back versus "The Masterpiece." Professional wrestling continues to be the main draw at the Parkhill Fall Fair. This year they had to move the event out of the community Centre and into the North Middlesex Arena to accommodate the event. "This just keeps growing," Cody Deaner said. "Look for next year to be even bigger and even better. I don't know how we do it every year. But with the community's support, we manage to make it bigger and better every year." Cody Deaner posted the following picture thanking his fans on his Instagram account:   On Saturday, Sept 16th, 2017, in Oshawa, ON, at a Pro Wrestling Eclipse event, Cody was surprised with a very special gift from three very special fans. Cody wrote the following about the experience on his Facebook page: Some wrestlers might say, "I have the greatest fans in the world," just because it sounds like a nice thing to say. But I know I can say it and actually mean it. This past Saturday in Oshawa, Ontario, 3 of my biggest fans - James, MacKenzie & Brayden - came into the building telling me they had a surprise for me. They told me they wanted me to look out into the crowd when I came to the ring and they'd show me the surprise then. But this was an hour before belltime, and after about 15 mins of waiting, they couldn't contain their excitement to show me what they made me, so they asked if they could show me BEFORE the show. Of course, I agree. On their instruction, I turned around and closed my eyes until they said it was ok to look. When they were ready, I turned around and opened my eyes and I couldn't believe what I saw: A GIANT professionally made vinyl banner proudly proclaiming me as their champion. Included on the poster are moments we've shared together at shows either at intermission or before an event. To say I was floored by this would be an understatement. It's very rare that I'm left speechless, but this was definitely one of those occasions. I thought it was so cool that they'd be bringing this banner to events, but then they told me ... no, they wanted ME to KEEP it. And they wanted to autograph it for me too. :) I'm not ashamed to say that after receiving the gift I was left stunned at my merch table and had a few minutes alone before more fans started to filter in. I fought pretty hard holding back tears in those few minutes as the realization of the effect I had on these kids started to hit me. I've preached this to fellow wrestlers before, but it warrants repeating again here... never underestimate the influence you have on those around you. Whether you WANT to be influential or not... you ARE. So take that position seriously. I take it seriously. And honestly, I've grown to actually cherish it. Thank you James, MacKenzie & Brayden. Your gift is going to be displayed proudly in the "Deaner Man Cave." I can whole-heartedly & proudly proclaim that my fans - The Deaner Dynasty - are the greatest fans in the world.
