On Oct 15th, 2016, Cody Deaner took part in a Rock Solid Wrestling event in Gravenhurst, Ontario to help raise money for Ethan's Journey. Cody had the following to say about Ethan and the event on his facebook page at facebook.com/codydeaner "This is Ethan. Ethan has an amazing story. Ethan was born at the 25 week point of his mother's pregnancy and he only weighed 500g. He suffered bilateral grade 3 brain bleeds which in turn caused brain damage. At 18 months he was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy.... which means that the muscles in his lower extremities are very tight, in turn making it very difficult to walk. I have had the honour of wrestling on numerous Rock Solid Wrestling shows that have involved helping raise money to get Ethan walking. Any interaction I've had with him always involves a giant smile and him rippin' around on his walker! Right after this picture was taken he was standing in the ring, holding the ropes and jumping up and down with joy. It is IMPOSSIBLE not to smile when you're in Ethan's presence. Ethan is a very special boy. And he has very special parents AND a very special community around him who are supporting his journey to walk again. I encourage you to become apart of that community as well. Ethan's parents have set up a GoFundMe page and they are doing amazingly well. As of writing this, they've raised almost $78,000 of their $120,000 goal. Please take the time to read more about Ethan and the campaign by going to the link below and if possible, donate a few dollars to Ethan's Journey. If you could also SHARE this with your friends, I'm sure it would mean a lot to Ethan's parents. Sincerely, Cody Deaner" Donate to Ethan's Journey: https://www.gofundme.com/get-ethan-walking On Oct 1st, 2016, Global Force Wrestling made its Canadian debut in Timmins, Ontario. Teaming up with Maximum Pro Wrestling, GFW put on a spectacular event for families and fans in attendance.
Cody Deaner and Jeff Jarrett teamed up in a featured tag team match vs. the team known as The Fraternity. Deaner and Jarrett scored the win via double submission as they both locked in Jarrett's patented figure-four leglock. After the match, Jarrett gave a heartfelt speech about his appreciation for the Canadian fans and praised the talents of Cody Deaner as a top Canadian professional wrestler. Cody then, surprisingly, took the microphone and spoke of his dream of one day teaming with Jarrett and how his dream came true. He then went on to say he knew other kids had a dream to be in a ring with their wrestling heroes, so Deaner and Jarrett invited kids and families in the ring for in-ring photo opportunities and sent the families in attendance home with smiles on their faces. All in all, GFW's Canadian debut was a huge hit and a big success. More info on upcoming GFW dates can be found at globalforcewrestling.com |
