Cody Deaner and his Cousin Jake - "The Deaners" make their Impact Wrestling debut on the October 13th edition of Xplosion.
You can watch the match for FREE on GlobalWrestlingNetwork.com or by downloading the GWN app. On Saturday, October 6th, Border City Wrestling celebrated their 25th Anniversary event with an Impact Wrestling "One Night Only" taping at St. Clair College in Windsor, ON. In the main event, Cody Deaner faced 3 Impact Wrestling Stars: Kongo Kong (champion), Johnny Impact, & Matt Sydal for the BCW Can-Am Championship. At the end of the night, Cody Deaner knelt in the ring as a 2x BCW Champion after pinning Kongo Kong with a roll-up out of nowhere.
Cody had the following to say about the win on his Facebook page & Instagram: “The title doesn’t make the man. The man makes the title.” For 25 years Border City Wrestling has been the measuring stick in Canadian professional wrestling. As of this past Saturday’s Global Wrestling Network #OneNightOnly taping, I find myself once again as the BCW Champion. I have been praising Canadian (and specifically Ontario) independent wrestling for literally my entire career. I have travelled far and wide and some of the best wrestling talent in the world... yes the WORLD... is right here in my backyard in Ontario, Canada. British wrestling is getting a buzz. For years the Northeast US has had a buzz... CANADIAN wrestling deserves a buzz. Because we have the best talent on the planet. With Border City Wrestling’s affiliation with Impact Wrestling, we are finally getting a platform to show the WORLD how amazing the talent in our country really is. Whether I’m viewed this way by others or not... as BCW Champion, I feel like I represent the other wrestling talent in this country because BCW has proven with its deep 25 year history that it is THE company in this province & in this country. A championship is only as meaningful as the person holding it. And this means the WORLD to me. Time to get to work and show the WORLD how good #CanadianIndependentWrestling truly is. Time to truly GIV’ER! Sincerely, Cody Deaner Cody Deaner wrote the following on his Facebook page:
"Together we can #StopBullying... For many months I’ve partnered with Fear The Fighter and sold their merchandise with portions of the proceeds going toward putting bullied kids in self-defence classes. I’ve decided to take it up a notch! October is #NationalBullyingPreventionMonth ... so throughout the month of October, I’ve decided that “Giv’er for Charity” will also be raising funds for this cause and 100% OF THE PROCEEDS I raise through my campaign will go toward putting bullied kids in classes. I’ve been told numerous heart-breaking stories from parents about what their kids go through on a daily basis. With this money, I will be finding quality BJJ & MMA gyms in those kids’ areas & putting them into programs for children. I will personally be picking kids who I have met and heard stories about. This one hits close to home. To learn more about “Giv’er for Charity” & how you can help visit CodyDeaner.com/charity Let’s not just giv’er guys... let’s GIV’ER FOR CHARITY! Cody Deaner's "Giv'er for Charity" recently raised $1000 for the Every Kid Counts program at the Lansdowne Children's Centre. Cody raised the money in honour of a fan he has developed a unique bond with - Regan Anderson.
As part of the fundraiser, Cody surprised Regan by inviting her in the ring for a special presentation. Cody had the following to say about the campaign when posting this video on his social media: "THIS is what "Giv'er for Charity" is all about... I started the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign at the beginning of this year. It started as a small, inspiring idea and has quickly morphed into something that is currently fueling my drive and passion for professional wrestling, and despite how cheesy this may sound ... has reignited my faith in the human race. I started "Giv'er for Charity" because I wanted to give back to my fans. In a real and tangible way. And I wanted to use what small influence I have in the wrestling world for good in the "real" world. When I started "Giv'er for Charity," I had the pleasure to talk with Mick Foley (who I've looked up to for YEARS as both a wrestler and someone who does absolutely amazing and inspiring work with various charities) about what I wanted to do with my charity work and he gave me some fantastic advice: "keep the focus of your contributions local." ThanksMick, I’ve taken your advice and you were absolutely right. I've had the pleasure of not only giving back to my fans and bringing my fans into the ring to honour them (like you see here with my buddy Regan)... I've gotten to team up with them and raise money alongside them and bring awareness to causes that are near and dear to their hearts and others in the local communities I visit on a regular basis as a travelling independent professional wrestler. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign at some point this year. Your support has not gone unnoticed to me and the numerous organizations like the Lansdowne Children's Centre, Rumball Camp of The Deaf, The Bob Rumball Foundation for the Deaf, Special Olympics St. Thomas, Pedalling Away Age at Exeter Villa & other charities we've been able to help so far this year. I hope this video makes your day. It sure makes mine. Sincerely, Cody Deaner" To learn more about Giv'er for Charity, click HERE |
