At the previous BCW show, "Excellence," (featuring Scott Steiner and Bret "The Hitman" Hart) Deaner pinned the BCW champion, Jon Bolen, in a tag team contest.
In front of a sold-crowd at the University of Windsor, The Deaner faced Jon Bolen with Syndicate member Tyson Dux at ringside. After interference from Tyson Dux, Brad Martin, and Scott D'Amore, Cody finally succumbed to the numbers game and was robbed of a victory vs. Bolen. After the match, A1, Phil Atlas, and "The War Machine" Rhino came to Cody's aid vs. The Syndicate. Scott D'Amore and Cody Deaner had some harsh words to say to one another after the match-up.
