Cody Deaner has announced that throughout October and November 2019, his "Giv'er for Charity" campaign will be raising money for Community Living Oshawa/Clarington (CLOC) communitylivingoc.ca
Cody had the following to say about this special partnership: For well over a decade, I have wrestled in the city of Oshawa, Ontario. I’ve had some of my wildest matches there and have years of memories with their die-hard and dedicated fans. After all my years of wrestling there, I’ve been christened “The King of The ‘Shwa” 👑 I have a special connection with many kids from the City of Oshawa and so many folks from The 'Shwa have supported the numerous charity fundraisers I've done over the years. I've decided I want to give back to this city that has given me so much over the years by helping raise money for an amazing local organization. Many of my most loyal supporters from Oshawa use the services of a local charitable organization called Community Living Oshawa/Clarington(CLOC). CLOC is a charitable organization offering opportunities for personal growth, community inclusion and empowerment to people with developmental disabilities, and their families. CLOC’s vision is for people with developmental disabilities to be included in a community where everyone lives, works, participates, succeeds and flourishes. And we have some special things planned to help raise funds for CLOC: 1) The Oshawa Generals Hockey Club has donated 4 tickets to a game that we will raffle off and donate the 100% $ from the raffle to CLOC. This raffle will happen at the Oct 15th Pro Wrestling Eclipse event at the Oshawa Legion. We also have some autographed collector cards of players to give away in this special raffle. 2) I will be speaking to the community at CLOC on November 18th. I'll be sharing my story of daring to dream BIG and letting everyone at CLOC know their dreams are possible. This special fundraiser will be happening throughout October and November. 100% proceeds from all of my "Giv'er for Charity" merch sold at my wrestling and speaking events will be donated to this amazing charity to help them run their programs. For those who can't make it out to an event in Oct/Nov, I have also set-up this online donation option so folks can get involved. Let's make this fundraiser our best one yet. Let's just not giv'er... Let's giv'er for CHARITY! Sincerely, Cody Deaner For more info on CLOC, visit: http://communitylivingoc.ca/ Throughout the month of September, Cody's "Giv'er for Charity" was raising money for "Mariam Society"... a not-for-profit organization that raises money for young girls in rural India to go to school.
Cody's goal was to raise $264 - the amount needed to send one girl to school for an entire year. Thanks to Cody's generous fans, "Giv'er for Charity" was able to reach its goal. Cody Deaner had the following to say on his social media platforms: WE DID IT! I’m happy to announce that the “Giv’er for Charity” campaign fundraiser throughout September reached its goal of raising enough money for Mariam Society to send one girl from rural India to school for an entire year. Our goal was $264, and thanks to the generous donations from my fans and folks who purchased my “Giv’er for Charity” merchandise at my wrestling/speaking events this month... we were able to raise $275! A BIG thank you to everyone who donated this month to this amazing not-for-profit group whose goal is to equip underprivileged young girls with the tools needed to achieve their dreams. THANK YOU for allowing one young girl the chance to #dreamBIG! Impact Wrestling has announced that beginning in October, it's flagship show, iMPACT, will be airing on AXS TV!
This move increases the reach for IMPACT's weekly program with distribution in over 50 million homes. Cody Deaner wrote the following about this huge move on his social media: "Time for the world to know what so many already know... #IMPACT has not only an insane amount of talent, but a commodity that is lost within so many companies today - a HUNGER to prove we are the best. Time to GIV’ER!" Cody had the following to say about the partnership on his Facebook page: "My journey in both professional wrestling & professional speaking has led me to meet some pretty amazing people... This year my journey led me to St. Joseph’s school in Acton, Ontario. After my presentation a young girl named Emmy (in the pic with the overalls with her two younger sisters Lizzie and Frannie) approached me and told me how inspired she was by my message to “dream BIG.” She then told me I should talk to her mom Gita. Emmy and her sister Lizzie went home and told their mom about me and Gita and I got in touch. She told me about her not-for-profit organization that encourages young girls to DREAM BIG. I knew immediately that I wanted to help. So I’m excited to announce that throughout the month of September, “Giv’er for Charity” will be partnering with Mariam Society to help send young girls to school so they can #dreamBIG The Mariam Society believes in the power of education to change a girl’s life. They help girls living in poverty stay in school, perform better, and dream bigger. The Mariam Society is partnered with the Grameen Foundation & together they provide education bursary and mentorship programs that partner women and men in Canada with girls in rural India, to help them pursue higher education, and imagine a life in which dreams are possible. It costs $264 Canadian dollars to send one girl to school for one year. Currently, there is a young girl named Nandini (profile below) who has a dream to be a teacher and help other needy children achieve their dreams.
I’m hoping, with your help, we can raise that $264 for Nandini. Throughout September, at all of my speaking and wrestling events I’ll be collecting all money from my “Giv’er for Charity” t-shirts and pictures and donating it to this cause. If you’d like to donate personally to this cause and aren’t able to attend an event, you can contact me personally via email or visit www.mariamsociety.org to donate and/or learn more. Together, I believe we can GIV’ER for charity and help Nandini and others like her to DREAM BIG! Sincerely, Cody Deaner On July 30th, 2019, Cody Deaner visited the Rumball Deaf Camp to be a guest speaker for the day. A few years ago, Cody connected with a camper from Rumball named Christopher. Together, last year, they raised $1000 to send underprivileged kids to Rumball Deaf Camp. This year, their campaign raised $2502. During his visit, Cody toured the camp, met the campers, went swimming, and shared his "Dare to Dream BIG" presentation with all the campers. He had the following to say about his visit:
"My words won’t do this experience justice, but I’ll try...A few years ago, I met a young deaf boy named Christopher at a wrestling show. He blessed me with a sign language name and from that day forward, we’ve formed a friendship that has blossomed into us raising money together through my “Giv’er for Charity” campaign for an amazing place... The Rumball Camp of The Deaf. Yesterday... I had the honor and privilege of not just visiting this amazing place, but sharing my story of “dreaming BIG” with all of the wonderful campers. Bob Rumball was an amazing man. And his organization is now a family operated foundation. Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting the Rumball family who pour their heart and soul into this place. They truly have servant hearts for every single camper. The ring leader of this amazing crew is Bob Rumball’s son - Derek Rumball. Derek took me on a guided tour of the camp. He showed me the lookout point where the kids can go cliff diving or swing off the Tarzan rope into the water. He took me out on their boat to show me the beautiful lake the kids get to canoe, kayak, wakeboard, ski, and tube in. He showed me their natural lakewater splash pad and water slide. Which I immediately had to slide down with a bunch of campers 😆😆😆 I heard stories about the various campers and staff. I spoke to dozens of smiling, appreciative children. All who have been dealt a difficult hand in life... but also all refuse to not let that bring them down. Their smiles and pure appreciation for me being there genuinely made my day. It was immediately apparent to me that this was no ordinary camp. The Rumball Camp is a special place. A very very special place. As I’ve travelled around the country speaking... I have literally told THOUSANDS of kids across Canada about my buddy Christopher and our fundraising efforts for the Rumball Camp. It meant SO MUCH to me to be able to tell that story at this camp, WITH CHRISTOPHER, in front of all of his camp friends. The smile on Christopher’s face alone made this trip worthwhile. I have more stories from my visit that I will share in the coming days. All of them point to one thing... I was MEANT to be connected to this camp. I truly believe my involvement with this amazing place and, more importantly, these amazing people was not an accident. It was meant to be. And I look forward to many more years to come of working with the amazing folks at the Rumball Camp of the Deaf. Thanks for sharing this little piece of heaven with me. Bob Rumball was definitely a man who dared to dream BIG. And his family is continuing to live that dream out for the betterment of so many young people. It’s an honor to be a small part of this amazing big dream. Sincerely, Cody Deaner |
