Last year, the "Giv'er for Charity" campaign raised money for the Lansdowne Children's Centre in Brantford, ON and their Every Kid Counts Program. This year, Cody Deaner plans to raise money for them again in 2019 by doubling down on his fundraising efforts. Cody wrote the following on his social media accounts: "I’m very excited to share this... Last year, I started the “Giv’er for Charity” campaign and was able to raise thousands of dollars for a variety of amazing Canadian charities that have a unique connection to my wrestling career and my fans in some way. I plan to expand the campaign this year in some new and exciting ways. AND to double down on some charities that I was so happy to partner with last year. One of those charities is the Lansdowne Children's Centre and their #EveryKidCounts program. Last year, me and my buddy Regan helped raise money and bring awareness to this amazing foundation who helps children with autism and special needs get involved in their communities in special ways. I’m happy to announce that I will again be raising money for this great organization this year. Throughout the months on March, April, and May, I will again be selling my #RedneckRenegade caricatures and giving 100% proceeds to the foundation. BUT... not only that... I will be selling and giving 100% of sales of the BRAND NEW “GIV’ER FOR CHARITY” t-shirt to Lansdowne. A very special thanks to Aiden Prince for this amazing shirt design. Those who have been following my story know exactly why this design is so special. If you don’t... feel free to ask. I hope to see all of you at upcoming events supporting the amazing people we’ll be raising money for this year. And here’s hoping we can build an army of “Giv’er for Charity” followers reppin’ these new tees. 🤘 Sincerely, Cody Deaner" Visit http://lansdownecentre.ca to learn more about all of their amazing programs. Event details can be found on the Border City Wrestling Facebook page HERE Throughout the month of November and the first weekend of December 2018, Cody Deaner's "Giv'er for Charity" campaign made its way to various independent wrestling events across the province of Ontario. At each event, Deaner sold his "Redneck Renegade" caricatures to donate 100% of the money to Yo Mobile - a bus that hands out food and clothes to the homeless in Timmins, ON.
Timmins has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the province. And, they have been hit extra hard this season as their homeless shelter experienced a major fire. Cody had the following to say about the fundraiser on his Facebook page: "I got two words for ya... THANK YOU! After extending the “Giv’er for Charity” fundraiser for Yo Mobile to this past weekend... with all the generous donations that came in this weekend added to the original fundraiser at Rock Solid Wrestling... I’ve been able to collect $500 to send to the folks at #YoMobile to help feed and clothe the homeless in Timmins, Ontario this holiday season. Thank you to all of the amazing wrestling fans who bought my #RedneckRenegade caricatures & donated extra $ on top of your purchase. The homeless in Timmins are in desperate need this winter due to a fire at their shelter. And I know the wonderful folks at #YoMobile will make this donation go a long way. 👍 THANK YOU to everyone who doesn’t only giv’er... but makes sure to GIV’ER for CHARITY! Cody Deaner brought his message of "Dare to Dream BIG" to the schools to teach the kids that even though they might live in a small town... that doesn't mean their dreams have to be small too. Cody wrote the following about his visit to the schools on his Facebook page: "It meant a lot to me yesterday to visit my old stompin’ grounds of Aylmer, Ontario & speak to the kids at Assumption Catholic School Aylmer at London District Catholic School Board. As a kid who grew up in #Aylmer, played basketball in that very gymnasium & has travelled to some pretty amazing places doing what I love... it was important to me to tell the kids that just because they live in a small town, that doesn’t mean they can’t #dreamBIG. A big thanks to all the staff & students at #AssumptionCatholicSchool... you guys rock!" Cody's visit to Assumption held some special significance to him when he was told about the immense impact he had on one young girl who watched his talk.
Cody wrote about this unique story on his Facebook page: "I was told a very satisfying story tonight... Last week I spoke at two awesome elementary schools: Monsignor Morrison School & Assumption Catholic School Aylmer in London District Catholic School Board. A young girl from Assumption went home after I spoke there and excitedly told her mother: “Mom! I met a real life wrestler today!” Mom: “That’s nice, honey.” Young girl: “And he told us that we can be whatever we want to be and be amazing at anything we want... IF we try REALLY HARD.” Mom: “Is that so, honey?” Young girl: “Yes! So, I’m going to keep trying really hard at ringette mom. And I’m going to be amazing at it! And when I grow up... I’m going to be a ringette player!” Wow. As a motivational speaker, I don’t often get to follow-up with the kids I speak to. In this case, I was speaking to kids in the town I grew up in. So, I had many special connections to the community and the kids. I’m extremely grateful this story made it to me. To say it made my day is an understatement." Cody Deaner headlined in the main event for Border City Wrestling's 25th Anniversary show that will premiere on Impact Wrestling's Global Wrestling Network as part of a special One Night Only showcase.
In the main event, for the Border City Wrestling Can-Am Championship, Cody Deaner faces Kongo Kong, Matt Sydal, and Johnny Impact in a Fatal 4-Way match. |
