Cody Deaner visits his #1 fan, 88 year old Isabelle, in the nursing home

On Monday, January 22nd, Cody Deaner visited 88 year old wrestling fan Isabelle at her nursing home for her birthday. Here's what Cody wrote on his Facebook page about the surprise visit:

"This is Isabelle. And today was her 88th birthday.
I first met Isabelle at a small county fair wrestling show. I distinctly remember her because as I was beating my opponent up outside the ring, I remember being taken aback by this lovely old lady in the front row who seemed to purely enjoy watching me beat up the bad guy I was fighting. I immediately stopped what I was doing and gave her a big high five and whispered something to her. For the life of me, I can’t remember what. I just remember the huge smile I received after the quick little exchange.
Isabelle later came to see me at my merchandise table and she told me how much she loved wrestling and how much fun she had. Her son told me I made her day that day by spending a few minutes with her... (continued below)​

To my surprise, she came to see me wrestle two more times after that & I was told she’s my biggest fan.
A few weeks ago, her son contacted me and asked if I’d surprise Isabelle by visiting her at her nursing home for her birthday. I immediately said, yes.
Before I arrived today, her family told her she had a surprise present for her birthday. Her guess was: “Is Cody going to be wrestling around here soon?” Well... we gave her one better.
When I walked into the room and she turned & looked at me, I can’t describe the smile she gave me. Other than to say... it lit up the room.
I told her I always remembered her from that first day I saw her because while I was trying to light up the room with my performance in the ring, she lit up the room with her smile.
One of my favourite parts of the visit was when her son asked, “Want a beer?!” He then pulled out two cold ones for me and Isabelle to share together.
After visiting over a brewski, Isabelle showed me her room and the poster her family made for her with pictures of us together all over it. It was truly a special time... (continued below)

To my fellow wrestlers: The next time you’re wrestling, try not to get so caught up in what you’re doing. Take a minute to look around and appreciate your surroundings. If I hadn’t done that, I never would have met Isabelle.
And to Isabelle: Happy birthday sweetheart. And keep smiling and lighting up the room.
