Cody Deaner Visits Awana Kids Club

On September 22nd, 2015, Cody Deaner visited the Awana Kids Club at Victory Baptist Church in Newmarket, Ontario.

Cody Deaner spoke to the kids about what it takes to be a champion.

"The theme of the night was rewards," Cody says. "They wanted to teach them that life isn't all about rewards. It's important to work hard, but ultimately it's the process that counts - the people you meet along the way, the friends you make, and the lives you change."

Adam Hodgins, the youth pastor at Victory Baptist Church, brought Cody in as a surprise to help kick off this year's Awana Kids Club.

Cody was a surprise at the end of the night, and then took pictures with families in the lobby after the event.

"Nothing beats hanging out with smiling kids who are excited to see you. It was a special night for me," Cody says. "One kid told me 'I want to be just like you when I grow up.' The whole experience was very humbling."
