On Saturday Oct 25th, In Tillsonburg, ON, an intense feud that lasted over one year, and began over 14 years ago, came to a dramatic conclusion during a classic "I Quit" match.
The match saw Cody Deaner and Derek Wylde literally try to destroy one another. The result was a match that very well could take years off of each man's life. However, it added endless memories into the mind's of the fans who witnessed the dramatic contest.
After Cody Deaner tried to strangle Wylde with his belt, Derek Wylde gave Cody Deaner a "Burning Hammer" onto his championship title, Cody Deaner powerbombed Derek Wylde through a table, and Cody attempted a piledriver onto a sharp piece of broken metal ... Derek Wylde was finally able to make Cody Deaner scream "I QUIT!" after pressing an extremely sharp and broken piece of metal (from the same table Wylde was powerbombed through) into Cody Deaner's skull. Cody Deaner yelled the two fatal words before Wylde permanently disfigured his face.
This match signified the end of a feud as well as an end of an era. The crowd was in shock at the conclusion; but, their shock quickly turned to appreciation as they gave Wylde and Deaner a standing ovation at the spectacle that they had just witnessed. And, it sunk in that this might have been the last wrestling match they will ever witness in their hometown.
Both Wylde and Deaner gave heartfelt speeches in appreciation of the dedication of the Tillsonburg fans as CCW wrestlers entered the ring to also show their appreciation.
Fighting through tears, CCW owner, Jay McDonald, thanked the fans for their support over the years and said he hoped to one day return to Tillsonburg.
